WOMEN & CHILDREN
Current Programs
The Phoenix Rescue Mission presently provides all daytime services to women, as well as women with children, at the present shelter location. These services include 3 hot meals daily, showers, clean clothing, phone service, and many other things to make their lives better.
The Mission is able to provide referrals for child care and jobs, as well as other agency contacts, to help with health issues and other challenges. Hundreds of families in need also receive Emergency Food Boxes at our Family Outreach Center.
Recognizing the desperate need for facilities to respond to the fastest growing segment in homelessness, poverty, and abusive conditions, the Phoenix Rescue Mission is planning a new center for single women and women with children.
Here are some important facts for you to know:
*There are at least 10,000 people living on the streets of Maricopa County on any given day.
*Of that population, over 50% of those in need are women, children, and families.
*Sadly, there are only 1,100 emergency beds dedicated to women and children available in all of Maricopa County.
As a result, the Mission began construction on the Changing Lives Center in 2009. This new Center will provide a safe haven for homeless women and their children to live together while the women participate in a long-term residential addiction recovery program.
