Family Services
Phoenix Rescue Mission has expanded its Family Outreach Program this year. In 2006 alone, 8,361 food boxes were distributed to families to help them make ends meet in difficult times. Donated clothing and showers are also available to anyone in need every day.  In addition to meeting the physical needs of families, staff members provide counseling and assistance with locating housing and job placements, whenever possible.

The Mission continues to serve the three hot meals per day to anyone who is hungry, always free of charge. Over 250,000 meals were served in 2006 alone.

Special Events
Phoenix Rescue Mission hosts special events throughout the year for low-income children and families in the community surrounding the Mission. These events are always a memorable time for the participants and the staff.

Every spring, children sign up to be a part of the Easter Egg hunt at the Mission. In 2007, over 270 children received an Easter basket, enjoyed a chapel service, and participated in egg coloring and other fun activities.

In July, we again play host to many children. Our Back to School event for children of low-income families provides each child with new tennis shoes, backpack, school uniform and school supplies. We want them to start their school year on a "level playing field" with the clothing and supplies they will need. In 2007, over 750 children were assisted at the Mission by this program.  This event is made possible by the generous donations of individuals and churches all throughout the Valley.

The Great Thanksgiving Banquet in November is an event that provides a hot turkey dinner with all the trimmings to hundreds of men, women and children on the day before and the day of Thanksgiving.  In addition to meals served at the Mission in 2006, we provided 450 food boxes with turkeys to pre-registered families in need.

Our Adopt-A-Family program at Christmas rounds out our special events for the year. The Mission pre-registers low-income families through the local school districts, who are "adopted" by individuals, families and groups from all over Phoenix. These sponsors provide Christmas gifts for each child in the family, as well as a food box for their Christmas dinner. This program contributes to a blessed holiday season for both the adopted families and those who are sponsors.
