Addiction Recovery

The Phoenix Rescue Mission Addiction Recovery Program is a Christ-centered addiction recovery program utilizing multiple methods of chemical dependency and relapse prevention techniques. It is a minimum one-year program with multiple areas of ministry and levels including spiritual growth, addiction recovery, educational/vocational, and life skills. The components of the program include Bible doctrine, counseling, drug education, relapse prevention, on-site work-as-therapy, discipleship, group meetings, required church attendance and support group meetings. An individualized computer Career Education Center with Employment Skills training is included in the program.

The successful graduate of the program will be a new creation in Jesus Christ, born again by the blood of Jesus Christ, will continue being transformed into the image of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and have the hope of glory of eternal life with Jesus Christ.  He will also maintain gainful employment, continue a productive and substance-free lifestyle and be an active participant in a local church body.

Our Program consists of three levels of participation; the Pre-Program, the Residential Program, and Transitional Housing.

Pre-Program

The Pre-Program lasts 4-6 weeks as men first enter the Emergency Shelter and apply for the Program.  During this time of Stabilization, the men are introduced to basic recovery principles and a New Life in Christ as the basis for successful recovery!

Residential Program

The Residential Program, lasting approximately one year, consists of individual and group counseling by Master’s Level Counselors, basic adult educational evaluation and advancement, computer learning skills, classes for Discipleship, Relapse Prevention, Family Issues and Life Skills.  Job Search and Development classes are provided as the men approach the completion of the Residential Program.

Transitional Housing

The Phoenix Rescue Mission opened two Transitional Living Houses in 2007!  These facilities house up to 9 men as they transition from living in a structured environment to obtaining full time employment or pursuing vocational training and living more independently.  The Transitional Program lasts for approximately six months.

Bright Future

The future is not only bright for these men as they learn to become contributing members of society and the church, but it is also a bright future for the Men’s Recovery Program.  As God leads us, we look forward to expanding our capacity from 21 to 40 beds in the near future!  Also, in the coming 6 years, the Men’s Addiction Recovery Program plans to be a participant in the National Recovery Initiative, a clinically-based study to determine the effectiveness of Christian-based recovery programs throughout the United States!
